Immune System

The immune system is seen as the body’s army, it fights and repels disease-causing organisms, routing them if they get past the first line of defense.  It also has an essential function in protecting us by cleaning up and disposing of dead or damaged cells, cancerous cells, pus, and other toxins with the lymphatic system.  The immune system functions to prevent micro-organisms from accumulating in our bodies in a way that would be detrimental us.  Consists of:

  • Non- specific immunity responses: Targets all foreign invaders (of internal concerns)

  • Specific immunity response: a more complex second line of defense in which a tailor-made defense is executed by B and T lymphocytes (types of WBC, lymph cells)

GOAL: Rebuilding and strengthening this essential system, playing a major role in your line of defense.

IMMUNE SYSTEM <-->SKIN: When cells are damaged from injury, pathogenic (disease-causing) bacteria or other organisms, as well toxic irritants. The skin’s immediate response is swelling (inflammation) and possible redness.
